Whitney Ott
Whitney Ott
Whitney’s quick mind, committed work ethic and natural people skills have placed her on a rapid career trajectory from her start as an eager go-getter in 2003 to becoming Jackson Spalding’s seventh member of the JS ownership group in 2014. She leads many of our high-profile projects for The Coca-Cola Company, including the move of its secret formula to The World of Coca-Cola and the company’s 125th Anniversary Celebration in 2011. She is also a go-to resource for client messaging, coaching and facilitation sessions.
Earlier, Whitney led the award-winning Orkin Residential business, focusing on strategic public health partnerships, consumer media relations and cause-related marketing, which enhanced the company’s brand recognition across North America. Internally, she serves on our Management Team and chairs our Career Development group.
In 2008, Whitney initiated Orkin’s “Fight the Bite” campaign, a partnership with the United Nations Foundation’s “Nothing but Nets” initiative. This cause-related campaign funded the purchase and distribution of more than 13,000 insecticide-treated bed nets in malaria-ravaged countries and won top honors at the 2008 Public Relations Society of America’s Georgia Phoenix awards.
Whitney originally planned to work in television, and was honored to intern for the late Tim Russert on NBC’s “Meet the Press” during the intense news rush following the 9/11 crisis. She also spent time at CNN where she wrote and produced a Fortune 500 segment for Headline News. These experiences have contributed to her success in landing top-tier news placements for her clients.
Whitney has served on the board of the American Marketing Association’s Atlanta chapter. She is the 2012-13 Program Chair for Buckhead Rotary and was part of the January 2010 Rotary Group Study Exchange to Gujarat, India where she spent four weeks immersed in the culture.
She grew up in Owensboro, Ky., but has been an Atlantan since her college days at Agnes Scott where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She and her husband, Matt, are enthusiastic urban dwellers.
