Ted Metzger

Prior to joining Jackson Spalding in 2021, Ted spent 17 years working for some of the most prominent national and international news organizations. He serves as a strategic adviser for our media relations and coaching practices, working with a number of clients that include Chick-fil-A, Delta, Dematic, Wabtec and Primrose.

Growing up, Ted loved sports and politics, which is why he jumped at the chance to attend Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. For his first media job, he hopped across the Potomac to the PBS NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.  From there Ted went to CNN’s Washington Bureau, where he produced the cable network’s Sunday public affairs programming, including Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer and State of the Union with John King.

After nearly a decade of working in the control room, Ted became a field producer, covering the White House during the Obama Administration, and producing stories on the FBI, Justice Department and Supreme Court.  Ted’s next move was to international programming, including BBC World News America with Katty Kay and The Express at CNN International.  Most recently, he served as executive producer for At This Hour with Kate Bolduan.

Outside of covering some of the most momentous events in the 21st century, Ted has managed to find time to pursue his hobbies and passions. An avid traveler, always with his wife Jessica by his side, he has roamed the streets of London, Paris, Tokyo, Berlin, Prague and Amsterdam. In the U.S., they are three states short of reaching their goal of visiting all 50.  His travel adventures go nicely with his love for trying new and exotic foods.  He and his wife feed their foodie passion by visiting a new restaurant every week.  And when he’s not eating or traveling, Ted enjoys going to the movies, watching his beloved Washington Capitals and playing golf.
