Roger is a visual artist who devotes most days to creating emails that you’re likely to see if you are a Delta customer. He joined our team in 2019 after freelancing around town for almost a decade.
Before setting out on his own, Roger worked for FOCUS Brands, concepting and designing social media and advertising campaigns for Moe’s Southwest Grill. He says this career move honed his marketing knowledge, as every campaign involved collaboration with franchise owners alongside the marketing team.
Roger took a circuitous route to the design studio, even though his childhood dream was to create comic books. After high school, he sold his car, bought a hostel card and flew to NYC with less than $200, to pursue the artist’s life. Instead, his 6 ft. 5” frame and eagle eye landed him at Urban Outfitters, where he became head of security for all of the Manhattan stores.
A friend convinced Roger to move to Atlanta where he coincidentally reignited a relationship with his high school flame. This move eventually led Roger to The Portfolio Center, where his passion for illustration and design rekindled, too.
Away from work, he fuels his creativity with reading, photography and music. His wife is a labor and delivery nurse, so he’s often called into Daddy Duty, which inevitably includes drawing with his two young daughters. Conveniently, this activity buys him time to work on mini comics and graphic novels that he publishes online.
