Robert is a designer on our creative team who churns out work for Delta Air Lines, among others. His specialty is motion graphics, but he considers himself a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to design production.
His career began as a Production Assistant at WTVD, ABC’s affiliate in his hometown of Durham, N.C. There, he focused on graphic design and served as an occasional camera operator. He moved over to WNCT in Greenville, N.C., stepping up as Senior Promotional Producer — that guy who creates the images teasing upcoming news. This position gave him experience with After Effects, and his work was picked up by other CBS stations.
Robert graduated from Presbyterian College, where he played football for five seasons. Other prestigious schools wanted the 6-ft-4 tight-end, but he chose PC because of its positive, welcoming culture. His tenacity on the gridiron was recognized his senior year with the Billy Tiller Memorial Trophy, and his two seconds of fame occurred on ESPN’s Sports Center when his team snagged the #1 spot on its “Top 10 Plays.”
Inside the classroom, Robert opted for an English degree, the closest major available to advance his creative ambitions. Some might be surprised to learn that he also minored in theatre and dabbled in Shakespeare, but Robert sees that as a natural extension of his storytelling bent.
When it comes to outside activities, he is glad that workouts are no longer mandatory. He’s a fan of Game of Thrones, House of Cards and is currently reading books on screenwriting. While writing a screenplay may be somewhere on his bucket list, sitting in Cameron Indoor Stadium for Duke-Carolina basketball tops the line-up.
