Carly is based in our Athens, Ga. office and works primarily on Orkin Commercial and Rollins Specialty Brands.
She graduated, Phi Beta Kappa, from Duke University, where she originally thought she might pursue medicine or law. But, her involvement in a program called Humanitarian Challenges lured her into religious studies, instead. Carly explored what motivates certain communities toward a certain set of behaviors and beliefs, which provoked her interest in marketing. Her senior thesis, inspired by a hip-hop class she was taking at the time, focused on Beyonce’s 2017 Grammy performance and the effects of iconographic imagery on an audience.
Her favorite campus activity was serving on the public relations and marketing team for FORM Magazine, a student-run lifestyle and art publication. She joined this team as they were rebranding and helped launch their ongoing network of creative students and Duke alumni working in the arts.
Her most memorable work experience happened in New York City, where she landed a social media gig with Max Makewell, an abstract artist. He taught her all about the sales funnel and how to attract clients as a small business owner. Carly also learned the value of storytelling while working in the film industry during a springtime internship with Material Pictures in Los Angeles.
Her family originally hails from Long Island, but she’s spent most of her life in Oklahoma City. Carly enjoys traveling and new experiences and has explored Europe, North Africa and parts of South America so far. She’s also been a brief resident of Manhattan, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and the Appalachian Mountains—all in her quest to learn and observe what makes people tick.
