Bekki joined our firm in 2014 after spending a decade in television news. She contributes to our Chick-fil-A and Orkin Residential teams, focusing heavily on national media relations.
Prior to joining us, Bekki spent six years at WXIA-TV in Atlanta, first as Multimedia Producer and next as Executive Producer for the Morning News. Earlier, Bekki held similar posts at WFMY News 2 in Greensboro, N.C. and WCTI-TV in New Bern, N.C. where she began her career as an intern.
She won a Regional Emmy for breaking news coverage of the 2009 Atlanta floods and was part of a national Gannett team tapped to brainstorm newscast innovation. One of her favorite memories is producing promotional segments with talent from “The Today Show”, who teased her for being a timing taskmaster.
Her broadcast role required creativity, leadership, problem-solving, snap decision-making, and detailed organization. It also required sleep deprivation, with Bekki in charge of the graveyard shift and tethered to the station by email 24/7. Although her dream was always to work in TV, she eventually wanted her melatonin mojo back, so she joined us on “the other side.”
Bekki is a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, where she earned a B.A. in Journalism and minored in English. She spent her youth in Medina, Ohio, just south of Cleveland.
When she isn’t working in her yard or decorating the house, she actively serves the Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association (ALTA) and the United States Tennis Association (USTA). Bekki enjoys the friendships she’s formed through competitive play throughout the city. She is now trying to conquer a new swing on the links under the tutelage of her husband, a former golf pro.
