Alicin serves as the Vice President of First Impressions in our Athens office. She wears many hats, from office manager to receptionist and occasional copywriter. Basically, she keeps things organized and cheerful.
She joined us in 2014 after three and a half years as an Account Manager for The Athens Banner-Herald. In that role, she was the liaison between the newspaper’s online advertisers and in-house designers, spearheading the Daily Deal program and keeping it running smoothly. Her first job was at The Georgia Nature Center/World Environmental Organization, where she created and maintained various Web sites and promoted the destination to educators across the Southeast.
A cum laude graduate of the Grady College at the University of Georgia, Alicin received her B.A. in Journalism, majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Anthropology. She earned her minor with a Maymester to Budapest, following a Roma (gypsy) pilgrimage through Hungary, Romania and Western Europe. This experience led her to stand shoulder to shoulder with members of the Gypsy Kings and to lock eyes across the classroom with the man who would later become her husband, Richard.
Alicin loves cooking and knitting, but spends most of her free time with The Classic City Rollergirls as Lolli-MaeHamm. She skates offense and defense and won MVP blocker in her very first bout. In 2013, Alicin served as Vice President of Media and Marketing and was recognized as the Best League Team Player. Away from the Classic Center Arena, Alicin and her “sorority on wheels” enjoy meeting their fans through community outreach activities.
Wondering about her name? Alysha was already taken, so her mother coined it as a derivative of her mother’s name, Alice. She’s never met another Alicin, but says if we add an additional “l” her name becomes the active ingredient in garlic that’s good for your heart. She’s good for our heart, too, even without the extra consonant.
