“We, Not Me.” That’s the motto – and energy – that Alex lives by as he leads our Creative Practice. He brings a depth of global experience in brand and creative campaign development to Jackson Spalding, but it all began with a love of words.
Alex started his career as a copywriter at Blazing Paradigm in San Francisco and then moved to Odiorne, Wilde, Narraway and Partners (OWNP), opening the agency’s first overseas office as Interim Creative Director of OWNP UK. From there, Alex spent time serving in leadership roles at agencies including BBDO New York, Havas Worldwide and McGarryBowen New York. He has worked with world-renowned brands like Nike, Sony, Amazon, Charles Schwab, AT&T, New York Life and Apple. In addition to his client service experience, Alex served as CMO & VP of Content Development at Otto Radio, a Silicon Valley media startup.
Alex graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a major in Biology: Evolution, Behavior and Ecology. So, how did he transition from conservation to creative? He says there is something special about the scientific method of examining the complex and breaking it into simple components. That same process applies to finding the essence of an intricate communication challenge.
Away from the office, Alex is a fanatical golfer with a love for travel and cinema. Thanks to his wife, a professional opera singer, he also has a deep appreciation and respect for the fine arts. His favorite hobby of all, however, is spending time with his family, which includes two great kids.
