ATLANTA (Feb. 20, 2013) – Officially announced in an exclusive story from PRWeek, Toyota has selected Jackson Spalding as its PR agency partner for the Southeast, following a competitive review across the region.
Jackson Spalding’s focus will be to strategically position Toyota, Lexus and Scion brands with targeted influencers in the region, using a high-touch, personalized approach.
“The Jackson Spalding team will greatly strengthen our ability to reach new audiences and deepen relationships with those who love Toyota vehicles across the Southeast,” said Steven Curtis, corporate manager of corporate communications at Toyota Motor North America.
“Jackson Spalding has grown into a dynamic agency with excellent creative, video, social media, and training capabilities, in addition to extremely strong media relations,” said Patrick Hill, a founding member of Jackson Spalding and account lead for Toyota. “We’ll be using all these services for Toyota. We also know the multicultural audience is important here, and important to Toyota. We brought Alexis Davis Smith and PRecise Communications onto our team to insure that we connect with key audiences across this important automotive region,” Hill said.
Jackson Spalding has a long-standing partnership with PRecise Communications, having worked with them on campaigns with for The Coca-Cola Company and Consumer Credit Counseling Service (now CredAbility).
Jackson Spalding’s selection came by way of a competitive process beginning in April 2012 from a field of more than 20 public relations firms submitting initial responses to an RFI. The firm presented the pitch to four Toyota representatives in October, going big and small in the same meeting: turning its Midtown Atlanta office into an auto factory, and utilizing a birdhouse as the symbol for a grand idea.
“As a firm, almost a third of our people drive Toyota vehicles, so we were already familiar with the brand and had great emotional connections to it,” says Glen Jackson, co-founder and partner at Jackson Spalding. “We’re fired up to ‘go places’ with Toyota.”
