JS Client Work Recognized with Two National Awards

ATLANTA, June 16, 2009 –Two Jackson Spalding account teams recently earned national recognition for their work on behalf of consumer clients. Both teams were named finalists for top industry awards during ceremonies in New York City.

The Gretsch team was a Gold Sabre Award finalist for its 2008 campaign in search of “The Next Gretsch Greats.” This campaign, created to draw attention to the company’s 125th anniversary while engaging younger customers, was a viral promotion targeted to unsigned professional musicians. Bands were invited to upload video of their original music onto the Gretsch 125th anniversary Web site, and were encouraged to have their fans vote them into the finalist round in seven global markets. Through MySpace promotions, submissions came from all over world, and the winner was selected by celebrity artists already loyal to the iconic guitar and drum manufacturer. The anniversary campaign attracted 20,000 friends to the Gretsch MySpace page in nine months, while the competition netted 879 entries and more than 55,000 votes in just 60 days.

DeKalb resident Randall Kirsch led the team effort and represented Jackson Spalding at the annual Sabre ceremony in New York. The Holmes Report, an international public relations trade publication, sponsors the Sabre Awards.

Orkin, LLC’s Jackson Spalding residential team, led by Midtown Atlanta resident Whitney Miller, was a finalist for the Silver Anvil competition sponsored by the Public Relations Society of America on June 4. The team was recognized for its cause-related marketing campaign called “Fight the Bite.” The pest control company tied mosquito treatment to world malaria prevention by donating a percentage of mosquito service sales to Nothing but Nets, an organization that provides nets to mosquito-ravaged areas of Africa.

At the close of the first year, Orkin contributed $135,000 to the organization,resulting in a donation of 13,500 mosquito nets. The JS/Orkin entry was selected as a finalist from 900 submissions nationwide.
