This year has been off to a busy start, and it’s hard to believe it’s already April! Along with winning some awards here and there, we also steadily added to our roster of team members in Q1. Increasing our agency’s bench strength and deepening our expertise in both industry knowledge and skill sets is vital to serving our clients’ diverse needs and staying ahead of the curve.
Starting with our most recent additions, take a look at the awesome communications experts who joined the JS family in Q1 of 2019.
Serving as our Healthcare Marketing Practice Lead, Chowning brings a wealth of experience and passion to Jackson Spalding. With over a decade at boutique healthcare agency Dodge Communications (now MERGE Atlanta), Chowning led client teams that covered nearly every aspect of marketing strategy and communications in the healthcare industry. From producing go-to-market strategies for businesses in the genetic testing, pharmacy automation and robotics sectors to being at the forefront of the healthcare tech boom during the HITECH Act and handling public affairs for a top-10 publicly traded pharmaceutical company, she is well-versed in the nuances and intricacies of healthcare and the ancillary companies that serve it.
She’s long been intrigued by work that falls into a category that she describes as “nerdy sexy” – clients and projects that are equal parts on the cutting edge but ripe with complexities that need unpacking.
Chowning notes, “Healthcare used to be an invite-only playground. Over the last handful of years, with consumerism, the HITECH Act and other shifts in the way America consumes and provides healthcare, there’s been a welcoming of diverse thinking. Jackson Spalding provides the best of both worlds – an intentionality around growing its healthcare expertise combined with the broader, diverse thinking from other verticals and experiences that can augment strategic marketing programs for our partners in this space.”
We’re ecstatic to welcome John as a Senior Copywriter, although the question of whether he is related to our co-founder Bo Spalding remains. His background as a creative director for the likes of BBDO and Ogilvy & Mather as well as his time spent as an instructor at the Portfolio Center and Creative Circus make him the perfect person to lead our messaging efforts.
His favorite projects to work on? He has a simple answer: “The more complex the business or problem is to explain, the more rewarding it is to solve.”
John’s belief is that “nothing can dilute the power of the one-liner, the simple headline, the elevator pitch if you will. So much of good copywriting is about consolidating and condensing thoughts into something concise and memorable. And short. Unlike this sentence.”
Our resident Social Media Strategy lead, Dijana serves as a consultant to a variety of clients and is a member of our growing digital strategy team. She came to Jackson Spalding after a stint as The Morrison Agency’s Senior Social Media Strategist, prior to which she oversaw social platforms for the newly built Mercedes-Benz stadium while with AMBSE Media Group. Dijana’s background spans content production and strategic savvy, with a heavy emphasis on sports marketing.
After spending five years in New York City – where she produced events for brands like Capital One, Hulu, Michael Kors and the CBS network – Carlyle returned to her native Atlanta and joined us at Jackson Spalding. Here, the Auburn grad lends her extensive marketing and project management background to Takata, Rollins and the ATL transportation account.
Erin joined the team to lead Primrose School’s earned media strategy and collaborates with other clients in need of top-tier media coverage. Originally from Galveston Island, the University of Texas at Austin alumna spent four years with Weber Shandwick in Dallas where she worked with clients like Chevy, Cadillac, and Verizon. Prior to that, she was embedded at AT&T Corporate Headquarters and Southwest Airlines while at Hill + Knowlton Strategies.
As the Marketing Lead for Jackson Spalding, Stephanie oversees the agency’s promotional and storytelling efforts. Most recently, she was the Account and Content Strategist for Everywhere Agency, an influencer marketing firm. She led internal content initiatives and worked with clients like Newell Brands and Carter’s to hone in on the most compelling marketing message and how to share it.
Veronica supports Chick-fil-A and The Coca-Cola Company with her project management, media relations and issues consulting expertise. She honed her skills working for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and serving as a strategic communications assistant for Mizzou Athletics while she graduated from the university’s highly regarded School of Journalism.
