Lucia Occelli

Lucia has relished the creative process since childhood and now contributes her inborn sense of form and style to JS Creative, based in our Athens office. She joined us following time at the Athens Banner-Herald where she worked as an artist in the advertising department. Prior to that, she interned in New York City at Matsumoto Incorporated, a firm that designs art books for renowned artists as well as museums like the Guggenheim.

She flirted with the idea of pursuing a degree in architecture or industrial design, but fell in love with the University of Georgia’s graphic design department as well as the creative town where it’s located.

Born in Pittsburgh, she spent her early years in Yorba Linda, California, but moved to Atlanta for high school.

Lucia believes all good design — be it buildings or birthday cards — should convey a message, and that the best messages are “clean and simple.” She brings this sensibility to the work she designs on behalf of our clients, using her knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop, and QuarkXPress as well as Fireworks and Dreamweaver.

Her interests extend to fitness and health, which may explain her preference for organic foods — like her famous vegan carrot cake — and her daily commute to work — on foot. She concedes that while she may have to spend more time in the future behind the wheel of a car, she won’t let it impact her commitment to exercise, which helps her feel more efficient.
