ERIC O'BRIEN
Eric O’Brien provides public relations counsel, writing expertise, research and media relations to some of the agency’s most recognized clients. He is also a member of the Jackson Spalding Management Team.
Eric joined the firm in 1999 and leads the Delta Air Lines account. He helps the airline and its marketing department effectively communicate with its employees, the media and 38 million SkyMiles members. He has provided communication counsel to the airline as it has undergone extensive changes during the last few years.
Eric also provides counsel to several other JS clients, including The Coca-Cola Company and JAMESTOWN, a commercial real estate company. He has been active in assisting some of the agency’s pro bono clients with their communications efforts, including the planning and management of the media center for the 2003 ICF Canoe/Kayak World Championships on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Ga.
Prior to entering the public relations field, Eric worked at the American Association of Museums and the NCAA’s Office of Federal Relations in Washington, D.C.
A cum laude graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Sociology. As an undergraduate, he was a five-time All American in cross-country, indoor and outdoor track, and was named to the prestigious GTE Academic All-American team. In fact, he competed in the 1996 Olympic trials.
Eric currently lives in New York City with his wife, Emily, but frequently travels back to Atlanta for firm and client meetings. He claims to be one of the few people to have ever run a sub four-minute mile, made a hole-in-one and bowled a score over 200. We’ll leave the verification up to Guinness, but we do appreciate his competitive, hard-working spirit.
