ERICA MEDINA MARTINEZ
Erica joined our Dallas office in 2011 after serving as the Public Relations Manager for The Fairmont Dallas. She continues to lead publicity outreach for the luxury hotel property, now from the Jackson Spalding side. Other clients include Primrose Schools and The Woodall Rogers Park Foundation.
Hospitality has been a common theme on her resume, beginning with her days as a waitress while awaiting her first “real” job. She started her career at Expedia, as one of four hotel evaluators who crisscrossed the country to ensure that the amenities and descriptions posted on the website matched reality. Later she became a Customer Marketing Coordinator, a position that involved working on strategic promotions and interactive campaigns to boost the company’s brand awareness.
She was on staff at The Fairmont for some of its busiest events, NBA All-Star Weekend and Super Bowl XLV, but is proudest of her sustained success promoting the hotel’s restaurant and chef to the food media. She also is proud of her grounding in customer service and crisis management, which she naturally acquired through the 24/7 experiences of hotel life.
Erica received a Bachelor of Arts in print journalism from Texas Tech University and later earned her Master of Science in public relations from Texas Christian University. In between, she worked as an au pair in Madrid.
As the daughter of an FBI agent, Erica has developed a high degree of emotional intelligence that helps her “read the room” in business situations. It’s also come in handy as she’s rubbed shoulders with celebrities like Tom Cruise and the cast of “Glee.” Erica is most thankful for her Dad’s career stints in Puerto Rico, where she met her high school sweetheart, Joaquin, whom she married in 2008. They now live in North Dallas and are enjoying entertaining in their new home.
