Alicia Harwell
The first thing you should know about Alicia is that her name is pronounced with four syllables rather than three. And, don’t let her fair complexion fool you — she is actually the daughter of Spanish-speaking parents. Her father was born in Cuba and her mother was reared in Colombia, so Spanish was the first language she spoke.
Alicia is a videographer, producer and editor working on our JS Creative Multimedia Team. She joined us after four years with FSN South where she conceived, designed and wrote promotional spots for live sporting events and sports programming. Prior to that, she held a similar position with UPN Atlanta, WUPA-TV, promoting syndicated shows and movies. Her work earned a national Telly Award in 2004 for “Rock of the Marne,” a documentary she shot about soldiers from Georgia’s 3rd Infantry Division chronicling their mission in Iraq and their return home.
She graduated cum laude from the Grady College of Journalism at the University of Georgia. Her major was Broadcast News, and she originally thought her destination was the anchor desk. Just before graduation, however, she decided that gathering the news was more her bent, so she focused on a career on the production side. While at UGA, she also earned a degree in Spanish, which makes her a triple threat for clients who need bi-lingual video services.
Alicia spent a term abroad at The University of Oxford in England where she studied Chaucer Literature and British Landscaping Art. The latter has not improved her green thumb, but it did bring new perspective to her love for landscape photography. Other hobbies include cooking and entertaining, which she and her husband do often. Alicia loves to travel and counts Morocco as her most unique trip to date.
